Summer 2026: The Lord's Prayer

"Lord, teach us to pray.”

The disciples had watched Jesus heal, preach, and perform miracles—but the one thing they specifically asked him to teach them was how to pray. This summer, we will spend nine weeks slowing down and learning the prayer Jesus gave his followers: The Lord’s Prayer.

These familiar words are more than a ritual or religious tradition. They are a gift from Jesus that forms us into the people of God. Week by week, we will explore how this prayer shapes our desires, reorients our lives toward God’s kingdom, and teaches us what it means to follow Christ in a complicated world.

The Lord’s Prayer is not simply about getting what we want from God. It is about learning to want what God wants. As we pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,” God shapes our hearts to live on earth as in heaven and sends us into the world as people who bear witness that God has not abandoned creation, but is still at work among the faithful.

Whether you are new to prayer, struggling in prayer, or have prayed these words for decades, this study is an invitation to go deeper in your relationship with God and to discover why Christians throughout the centuries have returned again and again to these simple, powerful words:

“Our Father…”
