Description
The Photographer and Videography Internship at A&M United Methodist Church is an internship designed to provide hands-on experience in photography, videography, digital storytelling, media production, and content strategy. The intern will help document the life of the church through compelling visual storytelling while developing professional skills and portfolio-ready work applicable to careers in photography, videography, media production, content creation, marketing, and digital communications.
Working directly with the Director of Communications and Director of Media Production, the intern will capture and curate visual content that supports worship services, ministries, events, and outreach efforts. In addition to creating photo and video content, the intern will assist with production logistics, organize digital media assets, and contribute to content planning that strengthens the church's communications across digital and print platforms.
This internship requires approximately 24 hours per week and offers meaningful responsibility alongside mentorship and professional development opportunities.
Duration: One academic year, August through May (24 hours per week)
Responsibilities
Photograph worship services, ministry events, and special programs throughout the semester.
Capture cinematic video footage for social media, promotional campaigns, worship, and ministry storytelling.
Assist with planning and supporting video productions, including equipment setup, lighting, audio, staging, and production logistics.
Curate weekly photo and video content for social media, website, email, and promotional materials.
Organize, edit, archive, and maintain the church's digital photo and video library using established file management standards.
Select and prepare photography for church publications, advertising, and ministry communications.
Edit photos for color correction, cropping, and optimization across print and digital platforms.
Assist with basic video editing, including assembling footage, syncing audio, creating short-form social media content, and preparing deliverables.
Collaborate with the communications team to identify storytelling opportunities and develop visual content plans.
Maintain photography, video, lighting, and audio equipment while assisting with inventory and organization.
Support communications and promotional efforts for the college ministry and other church initiatives.
Research visual storytelling trends, photography techniques, and social media best practices to strengthen ministry communications.
Minimum Qualifications
Pursuing a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University
Experience operating Canon digital cameras for photography and video production (or equivalent).
Familiarity with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or comparable editing software.
Strong visual storytelling skills with attention to composition, lighting, and detail.
Ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as ministry events require.
Commitment to the mission and ministry of A&M United Methodist Church.
