Interested in
being a part of the youth ministries at A&M UMC?
Youth ministry
is a fun, exciting, tiring, fulfilling, exhausting, important,
rewarding, and crazy type of ministry. We need all types of
personalities in our youth ministry in order to relate to
different types of students.
Being a youth counselor is a life changing experience. Our
philosophy is a youth ministry built off love, not programs. This
means that the youth counselors are one of the most important
aspects of this ministry. Youth counselors are the people who do
relational ministry by becoming involved in the lives of the
youth. As a youth counselor, you will disciple youth and build
them into stronger Christians. You will help lead and participate
in UMYF on Sundays from 5:30-8:30 pm and/or Bible study on
Wednesdays from 6:30-8:15 pm. You also have the opportunity to
attend retreats, mission trips, ski trips, and all other youth
related activities. The students need leaders who are strong in
their faith, men and women of integrity, and have a passion for
sharing Christ with them. You must be a college sophomore or older
to apply for this position.
Also, if you don’t have the time to help as a youth counselor,
there are plenty of ways you can serve. From office work to
helping with special service projects or church services
throughout the year, we can find a way to put your gifts to work.
If you are interested in becoming a youth counselor or
volunteering, please fill out the appropriate application and turn
it into the Student Ministries office (upstairs in the CLC). If you have any
questions, call me at
979-846-8731, ext. 229.
