There are people
hurting, near at hand and far away - people with whom we can
share the hope of the gospel and the aid of our resources. The
United Methodist Women has for over 125 years been educating the
excluded, feeding the starving, and soothing the sick. Today we
do it smarter, and larger than ever before, which is good
because the problems also are larger than ever.
We have
new wars, and new diseases, and new oppressions, but we also
have the old power of prayer, of the Holy Spirit, and of the
urge from our souls to be of help. Students of our schools our
mothers established are growing up to be leaders in their
nations, or teachers or health care workers or community
organizers. Families are living healthier because of wells UMW
had dug, or agricultural skills UMW taught. Diseases are being
limited because of education about clean water and nutrition and
disease prevention.
If you prefer to act than to turn
away because the task is overwhelming, come with us. If you feel
blessed and want to share with others, come with us. If you
think that in serving others, you serve God, come with us.
Together we can do vastly more than each working alone. We grow
together in God’s harvest and you are needed in the vineyard.
Contact any officer or circle chairman and you will be welcomed.
General
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
