CHANCEL CHOIR (ALL AGES)
The
Chancel Choir provides musical leadership weekly in the 11:00
a.m. worship service and once a month in the 8:30 a.m. worship
service in the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings. This non-auditioned
choir welcomes all who love to sing and who will be committed to
attending Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday worship. Those who
have sung in high school and college choirs will find the
Chancel Choir to be a fellowship within a large congregation and
a great place to participate in the leadership of worship while
singing a wide variety of musical styles. Every effort is made
in rehearsals to teach basic elements of musicianship and vocal
technique.
In addition to its weekly worship leadership role, the Chancel
Choir has had the opportunity to sing at the Texas Annual
Conference of the United Methodist Church, Carnegie Hall, and
this March at Avery Fischer Hall in Lincoln Center. Our travels
have included concert engagements in Dublin (Ireland), Bristol
(England), and London (England).
The Chancel Choir's major works repertoire includes Handel's
"Messiah,"
Mozart's "Requiem," Schubert's "Mass in G," Rutter's "Gloria,"
Robert Ray's "Gospel Mass," Carol Barnett's "The World Beloved:
Al Bluegrass Mass," and Dubois' "The Seven Last Words of Christ"
each Good Friday at noon.
Rehearsal Time:
Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:30 pm (childcare provided) and Sundays, 20
minutes prior to the
8:30 and/or 11:00 am worship services -- Music Suite (Room
200 in the Sanctuary Building)
Grace Notes

MUSIC MAKERS
(K - 7TH GRADE)
This week long summer camp involves children with every aspect
of a musical production. They work with adults to learn
music, lines, acting, and movement, plus they build elaborate sets
and props. This week includes a fun travel day to a nearby

congregation.
