MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

ENOUGH: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity

Join us in worship for a sermon series entitled Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity. Our nation is experiencing what many have described as the “American Nightmare.” Increasing consumer debt, declines in savings, lower income growth, and a volatile stock market are all a part of our economic insecurity. We have lived in a society that tells us “you deserve it now,” whether or not we can afford it or really even need it.
All of us have struggled with these issues at one time or another. They are important issues that we cannot ignore. This is why, for six weeks (January 31 – March 7), we will be having a church wide study and worship emphasis called Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity. During this time we will explore what the Bible teaches us about financial management through corporate worship and small group study (click here  for details about small-group study opportunities). We’ll hear expert advice and stories about what others have learned by working through financial challenges. Each week we will provide you with some practical tools you can use to assess your financial situation and develop a financial plan with a biblical foundation.

See you Sunday,
Kip Gilts, Senior Pastor

BOOKS FOR BELIZE - Located in the northeast corner of Belize in the town of Libertad is a Methodist church and school. Children from kindergarten through eighth grade attend this school. The school has no library and few books in the classrooms. Belize is an English speaking country so Children’s Ministries and the Invest Team are coordinating their efforts to collect gently used and new books for ages one through eighteen to establish a library in the school. Boxes for the books will be located in the Welcome Center of the Sanctuary Building, in the CLC, and in the Annex Fellowship Hall. Books will be accepted during February and March. If you have questions concerning this mission project, please contact Carol Tatum at mctatum@suddenlink.net .

Lenten Food Drive - Jesus said, "Feed my sheep." Though it may seem that Bryan/College Station has escaped the worst from the economic downturn there are more and more families that depend on our community pantries, The Brazos Church Pantry is in desperate need of food so we will be collecting non perishable food during the entire Lenten season. If you will be attending the Lenten dinners on Wednesday night don't forget to bring something to contribute to feeding those in need. We will have boxes located outside the Great Hall for your donations. We will also continue to collect food in the Welcome Area. There is a list of recommended items found in the shopping cart in the Welcome Area.

Family Promise -  Please read more about Family Promise and how you can help. If you would like to volunteer for Family Promise, please contact Linda Marr at 693-4936 or  lindabill.marr@gmail.com
